i love thanksgiving. my family (unlike lots of other desi families i know) goes all out for it. we wake up at 8 am and start cooking immediately. we eat dinner around 4. by 5 we’re in the downtown, waiting for the lights to get turned on. they switch the lights on at 6:30. the fireworks start at 7.. and after that, the entire town gets together to party on the streets. ymca and cha cha slide are everyone’s favorites, followed by the chicken dance.
ah! my favorite holiday.

3:52 pm. so tired. pretending to be busy. just checking facebook. stalking old friends. thinking of clever things to say in this post. just ate a cold piece of chicken. all i’ve had. cold chicken. some corn too. very buttery. wish life was so buttery. sexy is online. after midnight he messaged. read message. turned around. went back to sleep. replied this morning. no message so far. friend tried to set me up. guy turned out to be a fire-worshipper. refused immediately. saw dostana. twice. in the theatres. fell in love. want john abraham. listening to maa da ladla. can’t believe indians made a song about gay people. wanting to message sexy. don’t know what to say. not wanting to meet any desis this weekend. stupid. will obviously meet them. want ice cream. chocolate. maybe pms-ing. need to do laundry. also iron last week’s laundry. stop reading silly romantic novels. maybe turn in missing assignments. retake exam. clean room. repaint room maybe. red. maroon actually. with black lamps. black rug too. sexy. very sexy. had a dream about sexy’s best friend. awkward. fish pond froze. fish died. forgot to put defroster in. should bake. cookies. double chocolate chip. delicious. twilight. no. sucks. haven’t read books. vampires suck. dance practice. shut up and bounce. temperature. cold. freezing. need purple coat. preferably with buttons. thanksgiving. turkey. gravy. fattening. relaxation. music. favorite band brokeup. hate them now. incomplete. single. awkward. never been so single. too much time. shopping. sales. black friday. new laptop. tv too. entertainment. grey’s. bad story. go away denny. too many characters are leaving. lesbians. saw two girls holding hands. awkward. not against gay people. just awkward. sleepy. tired.
4:05 pm. 98th post. 1000+ comments. 14,000+ views. 7 months.

I like being filthy rich <3
Karachiwali has tagged me.. and you all know how much i love tags. so there you go:
The McCains own 13 cars, eight homes and have access to a corporate jet. If you were as insanely rich as them, where would your eight homes be and why?
The only rule is: The homes must be within the borders of the country you live in, so as to utterly emulate the McCains.
When you’re done, tag 8 people, so that they may join in the self-indulgence, forgetting about the crappy property market and the equivalent of The End of Pompeii on Wall-Street.
i’m going to change the rules a little. i don’t want to have eight houses in the US (primarily because i don’t plan on spending the rest of my life here).
1. Karachi: i want one of those houses from like the pre-independence time period. my SIL’s best friend lives in one of those houses. SO cool! i really wish i could buy it but people who have those houses don’t really sell them. sigh!
2. Lahore: my parents already have a house in lahore, but i don’t want one of those normal houses. i want a haveli in old lahore. you know the havelis that basant events are held in? dang how i love those! i’ve spent 3 basants in lahore. ahh!
3. Faisalabad: i went to this one house in faisalabad a couple of years ago.. it had like a stream running through it. there were water fountains inside the house. ooooh so pretty.
4. Peshawar: yup! definitely! love those pathan houses. huge houses with great basements and omg! delicious kebobs. amazing decorations too
..
5. Mangla: something by the dam. the dam is pretty.. prettier than the karachi beach anyway. it’s blue. not that hot. not humid. <3
6. Nathiagali: i wanna buy that house from the kasuris. pretty place, plus it’s right by green’s (the hotel ofc!). oh and there are lots of monkeys there. ^_^
7. Quetta: because i heard the city is beautiful.
8. In the hills: anywhere! gilgit. skardu. shogran. any place works!
i tag Supe, Shahzad Khan, Eddie, Ayesha, Adnan, and anyone else who wants to do it.

change.
too many people have blogged about politics. i’m kinda sick of discussing it. i just hope obama keeps his promises..
on a lighter note, a friend and i spent a day out in the bad part of town. well not really town.. we live in the suburbs of a huge city, so we just went to the city. um the part of the city we were never allowed to go to, lol. we’ve both been driving for over 4 years now but we didn’t have the permission to go there. today, without telling our parents, we drove there.
the smart asses that we are, we forgot to take a tom-tom with us. imagine.. two white girls. one in a latino’s body, and the other in a brown body. both of us have always lived in gated communities, spent winter in northface and uggs, and driven toyotas and hondas.
today we were driving through a black and mexican neighborhood with our windows up and doors locked. yes we are both minorities. at least i am. she’s only half-latino.. plus she looks white. me? i look more hispanic than brown. but yeah.. we had our pepper sprays ready. we were joking about how if someone tries to assault us, we’ll be like “we’re a minority just like you!!”
both of us got lost. we ended up going north instead of south. finally we had to stop and ask these black women. they were nice. we parked behind this huge building and decided to walk the rest. on our way back home, we got lost again.
overall, it was a day well spent.
.. and now i understand why sexy said that staying in touch was going to become a hassle for me. he was sooo right. if we were still whatever-we-were-before, i wouldn’t be having lunch with friends every day, or going to random places during the day. i wouldn’t be staying out late, or spending the night at a friend’s. now i can do all of that all over again. i’m lovin’ it babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
(and so are my friends. lol.)

Sunday Smiles: Perfect day :)
ever had one of those days when everything goes right?
you wake up after getting 9+ hours of sleep.. you go to your favorite place for breakfast, buy an amazing pair of shoes, watch tv, think about the good times, call your old friends, email other people…
i’m like a bag full of smiles.
